Shooting gives you the photos, but EDITING makes them perfect.
Editing is a key component of photography. Photographers or clients often have a specific style or look that they go for or want from their photos. Often times, it is difficult to achieve these looks with just the shot. There are lighting and color factors that are natural - and cannot be manipulated while taking the photo. Editing platforms allow photographers to cultivate colors and lighting that could not be created organically. Photographers edit with software such as Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop. Creating your style and editing your photos to your or your client's liking requires a great deal of research and work put into understanding the editing software you choose. The photos in the gallery above were shot, and subsequently edited using Adobe Lightroom.
How Much is Too Much?
This is a question many in our society are asking. As mentioned above, editing is used often to cultivate a photographer's style, to highlight specific colors or portions of the photo, and to accentuate certain lighting or details. But sometimes photo editing is used to manipulate aspects of the photo's subject. The author of the article below explores the meaning of the term 'overedited' and what this means for modern photography.
